challah.jpgSince getting back to Chicago I haven’t felt very social. Case in point, I decided around 4pm to make some challah. I love the way it looks coming out of the oven and I like the french toast and the bread pudding that came come from it. I haven’t tried eating it yet, but it does look quite nice I think. For those playing along, here’s the recipe I used.  I found the bread to be a tad dry, but with good flavor and crumb.

I also made a nice salad with grapefruit, avocado, and shrimp. The shrimp were sauteed with a little ginger and garlic and a lot of olive oil and some of the grapefruit juice to create a dressing. On a whim I put in a shot of tequila and flambeed the whole thing which seemed to give it a sweet flavor.
