Jerry (my phD advisor) likes to toss the phrase “core-dump” around a lot.  A favorite example is when he returns a new draft of a paper we’re working on and it will say some thing like:

…recent advances in x-ray Raman scattering (Tim: core-dump references here–and I mean everything)…

So, I did what he said and our paper now has 71 references.  To put this in perspective, Jerry’s thesis had 60-some references all told (on the comparatively rare topic of superconductivity).  It also has 11 beautiful figures–which I bet is also more than existed in Jerry’s exercise in minimalism during his grad school days.  I’m not bitchin’, just sayin’.  Look for my new treatise on deconvolution-in-excited-state-spectroscopies on the arXiv server later this week…
