This is a pretty entertaining look at [the recently deceased] Ingmar Bergman’s soap commercials.

This is also a shout-out for Slate’s nice new video format stories. I especially like watching them during lunch (more now since the Microsoft sold them to the Post). For whatever reason, Slate seems to spend a lot of time analyzing the psychology and design of advertising, which works especially well here.

xwds? Ok, maybe not…at one time, though, I held the esteemed position of crossword editor of the Minneosta Technolog, a magazine that seems to have petered out of existence. I refused to use a computer to help with the puzzles, which resulted in one with the rather ‘obscure; word yntl in the last corner when I was on a time crunch. Apparently some of the higher end programs aren’t that bad at constructing xwds. To that end, this article in slate was pretty entertaining.
